Kaas - The Plateau of Flowers - part 6

Kaas - The Gallery continued:

The quest for more flowers continues even till date, there are millions of flowers spread out over a large tract of land. So many species, and with each passing year, a visit just for a couple of days is not sufficient to see and shoot. Scouring the area for a particular species is not so easy. There are good guides available at the entry point who show you around for a small fee. Telling the guides botanical names is like Greek and Latin, they are conversant with the local names of all the flowers. Showing them a photograph is much more convenient. I had carried with me a book by Dr. Sandeep Shrotri - "Kaas Plateau of Flowers". This is quite an informative book with a compendium of various flowers blooming in Kaas. Apart from flowers, it also narrates the geography and the topography of the plateau in general. The security staff and the guides are very cooperative and will show you as many flowers as possible within a span of 2-3 hours.
